Pictures to Inspire You to Visit Sequoia National Park

After setting a goal of exploring more of our so-called backyard, we have been traveling to different places in California more frequently than before. Luckily, there is no shortage of places to see here. Moreover, you don’t need to drive far to visit a new city or explore the great outdoors. Our latest local adventure included a 2-day trip to Sequoia National Park.

Named after one of largest trees on Earth, the quaint sequoia, Sequoia National Park is the epitome of natural beauty and magnificence. In the late 1880s many proposals bombarded the U.S. Congress in an attempt to protect the area in its untouched, raw state. Although not primarily for recreational reasons, the park was created on September 25, 1890, which makes it the second oldest national park in the country.

What to Do in the Park

Several world-famous sites and miles of hiking trails, including a climb up Moro Rock, make Sequoia National Park one of the most favorite destinations. Visitors from all over the world come here to see the 2,200-year-old General Sherman Tree, the largest giant sequoia tree in the world, measured by volume.

Interestingly enough, in Sequoia National Park even dead trees can be an alluring attraction, especially if it’s a gigantic trunk across the road with a cut-through “tunnel” for transit purposes. Many claim the serene beauty of the park is most apparent along the Crescent Meadow Loop Trail. Adventure seekers, though, gladly trade these views for rocky inclines and deep secrets of Crystal Cave.

TIP: The only cave accessible to the public, the cave often goes through temporary periods of closures. So make sure to check out its status before heading to Sequoia National Park. So beautiful! Sometimes I forget how much there is to explore here in the U.S.! And California is not too far from us. I’ve seen the redwoods and they were incredible. This looks equally as amazing!

So true, Susie! I haven’t been to the Redwoods yet. I think I’ll make room for this place on my list. Thanks for the suggestion πŸ™‚
