One Perfect March Day at the Palace of Versailles: Photo Tour

Spending one day – even if it’s cold and chilly, like that March day was – at the Palace of Versailles without a camera and tons of exclusive pictures afterward is, well, impossible.

One Perfect March Day at the Palace of Versailles Photo Tour

Sometimes, on rare occasions, it becomes challenging for me to describe a place using just words. Luckily, my love for all things visual such as photo diaries and spontaneous videos comes in handy. Being able to go back and relive all the experiences through those precious moments captured a while back is the best part of any trip after the trip itself, of course.

This was the case with our one-day March visit to the Palace of Versailles. It’s been six months since we visited Paris and Versailles. Yet as I go through our so-called One Perfectly Imperfect March Day at the Palace of Versailles photo diary, it feels like it happened just yesterday.

Our visit to Château de Versailles was different from all our other trips. I usually take responsibility for planning all our itineraries, which I do to a T. This time, however, I left it to the mercy of Roshan who had lived in Paris for a short period of time a while back and still lives and breathes all things French.

Still at home while he had been booking our accommodations and taking care of all other travel related issues, Roshan had made one thing crystal clear. We would devote the entire day to the Palace of Versailles. (He couldn’t possibly take into account how cold that March would be.) But at that point, to prove his point, Roshan had even booked a hotel room at the city of Versailles, located just one hour from Paris.

How to Spend One Day in Versailles

On the day of our arrival, Versailles was as usually busy with tourists, wandering around alone or in small groups. In an attempt to beat the crowds, we left Paris early in the morning. Yet it took us a quick glance from the windows of our Uber that pulled over right in front of the Palace, to realize how worthless our efforts were.

A big, barely moving queue already lined up at the entrance gate. Even unseasonably cold March weather and heavy spring rain didn’t bother the awestruck visitors who, like us, were planning to spend the whole day at the Palace of Versailles.

Leaving the crowd behind, we proceeded straight toward a ticket collector. Thanks to Roshan’s forward thinking and purchasing our tickets online, we were allowed to enter the territory of Versailles shortly after our arrival. And oh, holy moly! Right from the entrance, the Palace of Versailles amazed us with its magnificence and size.
